You don't need a license to purchase a car. You can purchase a vehicle and have someone drive you to-from where you need to go. However, you generally need to pay cash for the car. You need to show paid car insurance and have the 'driver' of the car with you. If you don't have a license, the insurance may not be affordable to have a car in your name. You may want to just hire a buddy to take you to/from work, or catch the city bus until you can get your license back.

If you are on SSD, you cannot get a loan. Therefore, no car. You can go through Michigan Works and see what you can do for work (you may able to work 20 hours a week, or month). If that is the case, they will pay for a car for you, up to $2,500. You need to speak to your SSD coordinator to see how 'disabled' you are: 50%, 80%, 100% and if you can work, how many hours a week/month can you work. Then go to Michigan Works and have them assist you in getting retrained for a job that you can do, while collecting the SSD. If you are only authorized to work 10 hours a month, Michigan Works cannot assist you with a car.

Hi! I have a question...I received your ad in the mail today. I have been to several...SEVERAL dealerships who immediately stop talking to me, walk away, get the pretend phone call, etc. when I ask about financing and I tell them I am on Social Security/Disability. Your ad states "All applications accepted". I realize this does NOT mean approval, but What about people like me? Do you even consider us and our situation? Yes, my credit is LOUSY...waited 3 years for approval on the disability. I haven't had a vehicle in 2 years. Walking everywhere is taking it's toll. Would it be worth me coming there...HONESTLY??!!! Would really appreciate a "true" answer. Thanks so much for your time!!! :)
